Paraguay Anticipates Over $1 Billion in Carbon Credit Investments from Singapore
Paraguay's government expects carbon credit investments from Singapore to surpass $1 billion. This comes as part of a broader strategy to enhance its carbon credit market, anticipating earnings up to $5 billion in the future.

Paraguay's Environment Minister, Rolando De Barros, announced expectations of over $1 billion in investments from Singapore in carbon credit projects. A cooperation agreement signed in May 2025 facilitates carbon credit transfers under the Paris Agreement, marking Singapore's seventh such deal.
In September 2025, Singapore procured 2.175 million tonnes of nature-based carbon credits, including the Boomitra Grassland Restoration Project in Paraguay. Paraguay earned $20 million from carbon credit sales over the past two years, with projections of up to $100 million this year. The country's ambition extends to $5 billion from future sales, positioning it as a key player in the voluntary carbon market.
