Pegler Brothers & Co. was founded in 1899 in Doncaster by Frank Pegler and Fred Birchall, initially manufacturing brass fittings for the steam industry. The company expanded significantly, employing 850 workers by 1930 and producing military components during World Wars.
It transitioned to producing plastic fittings post-war and became renowned for small bore radiator valves, exporting to over 100 countries. The company evolved through multiple acquisitions and mergers, becoming Pegler-Hattersley. Aalberts Industries announced the shutdown of Belmont works in 2024, with the site available for sale.
