PEI Farmers to Benefit from AgIntel's Precision Agriculture Data Platform with Government Funding
The P.E.I. Federation of Agriculture (PEIFA) is developing the AgIntel platform to support farmers in Prince Edward Island through enhanced data collection and analysis. Funded by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada with $499,400 and an additional $249,000 from the Strategic Industry Growth Initiative, this initiative aims to improve farm sustainability and profitability by providing real-time insights on water and fertilizer usage. The platform will also assist in generating carbon credits for farmers reducing emissions.

The P.E.I. Federation of Agriculture (PEIFA) is launching the AgIntel precision agriculture data platform to aid farmers in Prince Edward Island. Supported by $499,400 from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada under the Agricultural Clean Technology Program, the platform will enhance data collection and analysis related to water usage, fertilizer application, and carbon sequestration, promoting sustainable farming practices.
An additional $249,000 from the Strategic Industry Growth Initiative will support soil sampling and verification for carbon credit generation. PEIFA plans to purchase ten sensor sets for the 2026 season to facilitate this initiative.
