Penspen Secures Contract for Switzerland's National CO2 Transport Network Design
Penspen has been awarded a pre-FEED contract by CO2 Pipeline Schweiz AG to design a carbon dioxide transport network in Switzerland, connecting Basel and Zurich while assessing potential links across the region. This project is part of Switzerland's broader strategy to enhance carbon transport infrastructure for emissions reduction and carbon capture initiatives. The work, to be completed by March 2027, will establish technical standards to support various emitters in the country's decarbonisation efforts.

Penspen has received a pre-FEED contract from CO2 Pipeline Schweiz AG to assist in developing a carbon dioxide transport network in Switzerland. The study will design a CO2 pipeline corridor connecting Basel and Zurich and evaluate potential links across eastern and central Switzerland.
This initiative is part of Switzerland's strategy to build carbon transport infrastructure to meet emissions reduction goals and facilitate carbon capture and storage. Penspen's teams in Aberdeen and London will complete the project by March 2027, which includes creating technical designs for the pipeline backbone, compressor stations, and other infrastructure. The study aims to establish consistent technical standards for future CO2 pipeline projects, enhancing coordination among developers and regulators, and supporting various emitters like waste incinerators and cement producers in Switzerland's decarbonisation efforts.
