Petrol Pump Owners Seek Rs. 82.5 Billion from Government Amid Fuel Crisis
Petrol pump owners have requested Rs. 82.5 billion from the government to mitigate the financial impact of rising fuel costs due to the Middle East conflict. The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat is reviewing claims from oil marketing companies (OMCs) related to these increased costs.

Oil marketing companies (OMCs) have formally requested Rs. 82.5 billion from the government as compensation for rising costs attributed to the Middle East war and global fuel market volatility. The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat discussed these claims, noting that payments had already been made under the government's fuel price adjustment mechanism, totaling approximately Rs. 50-55 billion.
Approximately 40% of previous dues have been cleared, but significant payments remain outstanding. Concerns were raised regarding fraudulent claims from companies without fuel sales during the crisis. Additionally, gas shortages in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were highlighted as a separate issue.
