PETRONAS Partners with Terengganu for Nature-Based Carbon Projects
PETRONAS and the Terengganu state government have signed an MoU to develop nature-based carbon projects, aiming for high-quality carbon credits. This initiative is crucial for Malaysia's climate strategy, supporting local ecosystems and communities while advancing PETRONAS' Net Zero goals.

On April 21, 2026, PETRONAS entered a partnership with the Terengganu state government to advance nature-based carbon projects, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The collaboration focuses on identifying potential sites for projects that meet international certification standards for carbon credits.
This initiative is part of PETRONAS' broader strategy to achieve Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 and will enhance local biodiversity while supporting the community. The partnership aligns with Malaysia's objectives for environmental sustainability and economic resilience, providing an essential avenue for carbon offsetting amid rising industrialization costs.
