CLIMATE POLICY, REGULATION & CARBON MARKETS

PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) is navigating a complex landscape marked by global energy price fluctuations, a weakened rupiah, and geopolitical uncertainties. As the company prepares for 2025, it is strategically focused on enhancing its gas transmission and distribution infrastructure. Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman emphasized the importance of maintaining gas operations for all customer segments, even amid challenges such as domestic supply declines.

During a public exposition on September 10, 2025, Usman outlined PGN's commitment to optimal gas delivery and highlighted ongoing strategic initiatives. These include the revitalization of the Arun tank and the advancement of significant infrastructure projects like the Cikampek-Plumpang oil transportation initiative.

The Tegal-Cilacap project is also underway, currently in the feed and commercial arrangement phase. Furthermore, PGN is exploring the development of biomethane to align with global carbon emission reduction goals.

By mid-2025, PGN reported substantial distribution volumes of 832 BBTUD and transmission figures reaching 1,627 MMSCFD. The company’s diverse operations have contributed to its resilience, with additional revenue streams from oil transportation and international LNG trade.

Financially, PGN experienced a year-on-year revenue growth of 5.43%, totaling $1.938 billion, despite a net profit decrease of 22.60% to $144 million. The customer base expanded to 820,021 by June 2025, comprising various segments, including industrial, commercial, and residential clients. Through these strategic efforts, PGN aims to not only sustain its operations but also to expand its market reach in the evolving energy sector.
