Picvisa and Girbau Collaborate on Automated Textile Sorting Plant in Northern Europe
Picvisa and Girbau are collaborating to establish a new automated post-consumer textile sorting plant in Northern Europe. The facility will integrate Girbau's Sortech system for automated feeding and Picvisa's Ecosort optical sorting technology. This project aims to enhance sorting efficiency and reduce manual handling, addressing the growing need for scalable textile recycling solutions in response to increasing material volumes and regulatory changes.

Picvisa and Girbau have formed a strategic partnership to advance the automation of post-consumer textile sorting by commissioning a new plant in Northern Europe. The facility will combine Girbau's Sortech system, designed for automated feeding and garment separation, with Picvisa's Ecosort optical sorting technology, which classifies textiles by fibre composition, colour, and type.
This integration aims to improve process stability, throughput, and reduce reliance on manual pre-sorting, addressing the need for efficient textile recycling solutions as material volumes rise. The plant is among the first in Europe to integrate these technologies within a single line for post-consumer textiles, marking Picvisa's second turnkey facility on the continent.
