A meeting chaired by divisional commissioner Soumya Agarwal approved a flood control plan in Prayagraj to address recurring monsoon waterlogging. The initiative involves constructing dams, gates, and pumping stations along major drains, coordinated with the Municipal Corporation.
The Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam's C&DS division prepared the proposal, which includes five years of operation and maintenance. Rapid urbanization and blocked traditional drainage have worsened flooding. All proposed sites will undergo inspections by senior officials, and design details will be shared with local residents. The plan adheres to National Green Tribunal guidelines and includes monitoring systems for real-time data during heavy rainfall.
