The Board of Management of St. Anne's Special School submitted a planning application on January 12 for a 1,362 square metre single-storey extension at Sean Ross Abbey. The project aims to improve facilities for 49 pupils with special educational needs, adding six classrooms, a library, clinical and sensory rooms, and a secure courtyard play area.
Additional site improvements include a new boiler room, a covered drop-off area, revised parking, and a wastewater treatment system. The extension will be situated 190 metres from the protected structure of Sean Ross Abbey. Public submissions closed on February 15, and a decision from Tipperary County Council is expected by April 7.
