PLDT Plans to Double Data Center Capacity Amid Rising AI Demand
PLDT Inc. aims to double its data center capacity to at least 100 megawatts to meet growing demand for AI services. The company also reported a slight decline in net income for the first half of 2026, indicating a need for strategic growth through its data center assets.

PLDT Inc. intends to expand its data center capacity to a minimum of 100 megawatts to address heightened demand for AI and hyperscalers. In the first half of 2026, PLDT's net income was ₱17.33 billion, slightly down from ₱17.36 billion year-over-year, with expenses rising 4% to ₱84.88 billion while revenues increased by 2% to ₱112.01 billion.
The company anticipates that its data center demand has driven corporate ICT revenues up by 5% to ₱18.4 billion. VITRO REIT, a key asset for PLDT, reported a 13% rise in data center revenues, supported by colocation demand.
Furthermore, PLDT plans to reduce capital expenditures to ₱20.7 billion in the first half, maintaining an annual capex guidance within the mid-₱50 billion range. The company's ability to manage revenues amid economic challenges will be crucial for future growth.
