Point Laz and Dwyka Mining Deploy Lazaruss Scanner for South African Mine Shaft Automation
Point Laz, in partnership with Dwyka Mining Services, is introducing the Lazaruss automated mine shaft scanner in South Africa. This technology aims to enhance safety and efficiency in deep-level mining by providing precise digital inspections, significantly reducing inspection time and costs associated with traditional manual methods. The scanner features advanced LiDAR and imaging capabilities, enabling it to produce accurate 3D models and automated reports, transforming shaft maintenance into a data-driven process.

Point Laz and Dwyka Mining Services are deploying the Lazaruss automated mine shaft scanner in South Africa, aiming to improve safety and efficiency in deep-level mining. Traditional inspections are time-consuming and risky, consuming up to 6% of production time and leading to financial losses of USD0.3 million to USD2 million weekly.
The Lazaruss scanner uses LiDAR technology and advanced lighting to create accurate 3D models of shafts, enabling quick inspections. It operates autonomously and generates automated reports highlighting deviations. This technology represents a significant shift towards digitized infrastructure management in South African mining.
