Politehnica Develops Drone Technology for Defense in Romania
Politehnica University in Bucharest aims to produce drones in partnership with Ukrainian firms, enhancing Romania's defense capabilities. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to bolster anti-drone technologies, with significant investments announced for upcoming projects.

Politehnica University has established a laboratory for developing drone defense solutions, with expectations to sell drones shortly. The Romanian government plans to produce its own drones with a €200 million investment from SAFE, leveraging expertise from Ukraine.
Recent contracts include two public acquisitions worth 1.8 million lei for drone detection systems, and a nearly 8 million lei deal for jamming systems. Collaborations between state and private sectors are increasing, but further commitments from the Romanian government are necessary for future contracts. Romania is also acquiring three different anti-drone systems from Rheinmetall Italia, totaling nearly €1 billion, and additional funds are allocated for specialized munitions.
