POSCO Group to Implement Humanoid Robots for Steel Mill Logistics Management

INDUSTRIAL IOTROBOTICS

POSCO Group is advancing the integration of physical AI in manufacturing by initiating a project for humanoid robots in logistics management at its steel mills. On December 3, POSCO signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with POSCO DX, POSCO Capital, and US-based Persona AI at its Pangyo headquarters.

The agreement outlines responsibilities: POSCO will identify feasible processes for humanoid robot use, POSCO DX will design and build automation systems, and Persona AI will develop a robot platform suited for steel mills. Starting in February, a pilot program will focus on managing logistics for steel coils, with humanoid robots assisting in crane operations to enhance safety.

POSCO Group aims to address high accident risks and musculoskeletal disorders in logistics tasks, expanding humanoid robot applications based on pilot results. Persona AI, a startup founded in 2024, has received $3 million in investments from POSCO Group.
