Powerwave Secures ¥910 Million in Series A Funding for Wireless Power Transfer Development
Powerwave raised ¥910 million in Series A funding on January 30, with investments from multiple venture capital firms including The University of Tokyo Edge Capital Partners and Mitsubishi UFJ Capital. The funds will support product development for wide-area wireless power transfer systems for electric mobility, particularly in manufacturing and logistics, while also aiming for global market expansion.

Powerwave, a company from Toyohashi University of Technology, announced on January 30 that it raised ¥910 million in a Series A funding round through a third-party allotment of shares. Investors include The University of Tokyo Edge Capital Partners, Environmental Energy Investment, and others.
The company's technology, developed over 15 years, allows power transmission using 3mm thick electrodes for reduced installation costs and effective wide-area transfer. The funding will be used for product development, establishing mass production, expanding globally, and enhancing deployment efforts, particularly for AGVs and AMRs in automation and future micro-mobility applications. Powerwave was founded in March 2021.
