PreferCo and Glatt Launch Precision Fermentation Facility in Hyderabad Post EU Trade Deal
Indian firm PreferCo and German biotech Glatt have launched a precision fermentation scale-up centre in Hyderabad, following India's trade agreement with the EU. The facility aims to enhance biomanufacturing in India, supporting access to European markets and investment flows. It features 1,500-litre bioreactor capacity and advanced technology integration, focusing on multiple applications including functional foods and industrial biotech.

PreferCo and Glatt have opened a precision fermentation scale-up centre in Hyderabad, shortly after India's free trade agreement with the EU. This facility aims to bridge lab research and commercial manufacturing, enhancing India's BioE3 strategy for biomanufacturing.
It supports 1,500-litre bioreactors and integrates advanced automation and AI. The centre will extend applications beyond biopharmaceuticals into functional foods and sustainable materials. India's bioeconomy, projected to grow from $10B in 2014 to $300B by 2030, will benefit from this infrastructure, which aims to streamline the path from proof-of-concept to commercial production.
