Public Consultation Initiated for RWE's Stallingborough Gas Power Station Proposal
RWE is seeking public feedback on a proposed 900MW gas power station near Stallingborough, projected to power one million homes. The project aims to enhance energy security and contribute to net-zero goals, with a development consent order application expected in July 2027.

RWE is consulting on a proposed gas-fired power station near Stallingborough, capable of generating up to 900MW, sufficient for approximately one million homes. The planning decision will be managed by the planning inspectorate, with the Secretary of State responsible for the development consent order (DCO).
Public consultation began on March 11 and will conclude on May 6. The project includes carbon capture for emissions and potential gas pipeline corridors connecting to the National Gas transmission system. Construction could create over 1,250 jobs, and the application for the DCO is anticipated in July 2027, following ongoing discussions since December 2022.
