Quantcore Raises £2.5 Million to Develop UK Quantum Hardware Supply Chain
Quantcore has raised £2.5 million in funding to create a sovereign supply chain for quantum hardware in the UK. The investment was co-led by PXN Ventures, Blackfinch Ventures, and Scottish Enterprise. Quantcore specializes in manufacturing niobium-based components, which operate at higher temperatures, making them advantageous for quantum computing and sensing applications.
The company is based in the University of Glasgow's James Watt Nanofabrication Centre and plans to grow its team from four to 12 employees over the next 18 months. This funding aligns with the UK government's commitment to invest £670 million in quantum computing as part of its industrial strategy.
