Querétaro Ensures Energy Supply for Data Center Investments
Querétaro's energy infrastructure is set to support ongoing technological investments, particularly in data centers, with 900 MW under construction and additional projects planned. However, challenges remain nationwide due to energy supply constraints affecting other regions, highlighting the need for regulatory frameworks.

Querétaro is poised to attract data center investments without energy supply issues, as confirmed by Marco Antonio Del Prete, head of the state's Sustainable Development Secretariat. Currently, 900 MW is under construction at El Blanco substation, alongside additional projects like Parque Pyme, which will contribute 190 MW, potentially expanding to 400 MW.
This year, 10 to 12 new data centers are expected, including six from the CloudHQ project. Nonetheless, the Mexican Association of Data Centers warns of broader energy shortages that inhibit nationwide projects.
Regions such as Mexico City face infrastructure limitations, while Querétaro holds 65% of the country's data center capacity. Urgent collaboration between public and private sectors is needed to address these energy consumption challenges.
