Rapid City's Legal and Finance Committee approved over $44 million in Vision Funds to support a $100 million expansion at Rapid City Regional Airport. The project will add five new gates to reduce gate crowding during busy summer months.
Rapid City Regional Airport Executive Director Patrick Dame indicated the need for more gate space as multiple airlines arrive simultaneously. Groundbreaking is expected within 12 to 24 months. The airport is currently halfway through phase one of the terminal project, which includes baggage automation and TSA expansion. The full City Council will vote on the resolution on Tuesday.
