Redbridge Highways Project Achieves Carbon Savings Equivalent to Driving Around the World Ten Times
A highways project in Redbridge, London, utilizing EVO Zero cement and other low-carbon innovations saved around 65 tonnes of carbon. This is equivalent to the carbon emissions from driving around the world ten times. The project, led by the council's highways team and Kenson Highways, incorporates multiple sustainable elements such as greener asphalt, recycled materials, and electric vehicles.

A Redbridge highways project on Heathcote Avenue achieved carbon savings of about 65 tonnes, equating to driving around the world ten times. It is the first in London to employ EVO Zero cement, a near-zero carbon material developed by Heidelberg through carbon capture technology.
The initiative also features ACLA, a greener asphalt mix, recycled plastic kerbs, organic topsoil, solar traffic signals, and electric vehicles or HVO fuel-operated vehicles. The project reflects Redbridge Council's commitment to sustainability and innovation in reducing carbon emissions in construction.
