CLIMATE POLICY, REGULATION & CARBON MARKETSCARBON CAPTURE

Releaf Earth has issued Nigeria's first industrial-scale carbon removal credits, totaling 190 tonnes of CO₂e from its biochar facility in Iwuru, Cross River State. Major companies, including Salesforce, have purchased these credits through Milkywire, highlighting Nigeria's capabilities in the carbon removal sector.

The credits are based on biochar, which offers a stable and permanent solution for carbon sequestration. Issued under the Rainbow Standard, these credits ensure high integrity and traceability. This initiative aligns with Nigeria's economic diversification strategy, aiming for $3 billion in carbon market revenue by 2030, and positions Africa as a key player in the global climate economy.
