Rheinmetall eMSU Completes Testing with Air Canada for Sustainable Aviation Support
Rheinmetall has successfully tested its electric air start unit, eMSU, with Air Canada, marking a significant step in ground support technology. The eMSU is designed to help airlines achieve emissions reduction targets.

Rheinmetall's electric air start unit, eMSU, passed operational tests with Air Canada, successfully starting an Airbus A220 with Pratt & Whitney PW1524G engines. The device operates independently using a lithium-ion battery and an electrically driven turbine-type air compressor, eliminating the need for external power sources.
It delivers 250 ppm of airflow at 56 psia, suitable for various aircraft, including regional jets and wide-body planes. Testing included engine starts and maintenance operations for multiple engine types. The eMSU aims to enhance sustainability in aviation, supporting airlines in reaching net-zero emissions goals.
