RICS Collaborates with Retrofit Academy to Enhance Retrofit Skills Training
RICS partners with The Retrofit Academy to provide members with up to 80% funded training in retrofit skills, addressing a critical industry need. This initiative is crucial as approximately 29 million homes in the UK require retrofitting to meet 2050 Net Zero targets.

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has formed a strategic partnership with The Retrofit Academy (TRA) to enhance retrofit skills among its members. Through the government-backed Warm Homes Skills funding, RICS members can access up to 80% subsidized training for key qualifications such as the Level 4 Retrofit Assessor.
A report from the UK Parliament's Energy Security and Net Zero Committee highlights that around 29 million homes will need retrofit work to achieve the UK's 2050 Net Zero objectives, including insulation and heat pump installations. TRA aims to train 50,000 retrofit professionals by 2030, having already upskilled over 10,000 individuals. The partnership addresses the skills shortage in the industry, with RICS members encouraged to engage with TRA at Futurebuild 2026 in London.
