Rieter Acquires Barmag, Strengthening Position in Natural and Synthetic Fibres Market
Rieter completed the acquisition of Barmag on February 2, 2026, enhancing its position as a global leader in fibre technologies. Barmag is now part of Rieter's dedicated Man-Made Fiber division, improving Rieter's capabilities in filament and synthetic fibres. The acquisition was financed through a capital increase in October 2025 and bank loans. Barmag's management, led by Georg Stausberg, will integrate into Rieter's executive team, focusing on advancing automation, digitisation, and sustainability in textile manufacturing.

On February 2, 2026, Rieter completed the acquisition of Barmag, positioning itself as the leading provider for natural and manmade fibres globally. Barmag has been incorporated into Rieter's Man-Made Fiber division, enhancing its capabilities in synthetic fibre technologies.
The acquisition financing included a capital increase in October 2025, long-term bank loans, and improved credit facilities. Georg Stausberg will lead Barmag's management and report to Rieter's CEO Thomas Oetterli.
