RM2.3 Million Pump House in Melaka to Enhance Padi Yields for Local Farmers
A new RM2.3 million pump house in Melaka is operational, improving irrigation for 80.9 hectares of padi fields and benefiting 35 farmers. The project, a collaboration between the Melaka State Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, addresses ongoing water shortages. A larger RM43 million irrigation project is planned for the future. Improved irrigation is expected to increase padi yields from 1.5-2 tonnes to 2.5 tonnes or more, enhancing local rice supply and farmer incomes.

The RM2.3 million pump house in Kampung Pinang Batang Tiga, Klebang, is now operational, improving irrigation for 80.9 hectares of padi fields. This project, a collaboration between the Melaka State Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, aims to resolve long-standing water shortages faced by local farmers.
A subsequent RM43 million irrigation project is planned for completion in three to four years. The new facility is expected to increase padi yields from 1.5-2 tonnes to over 2.5 tonnes, enhancing local rice supply and farmer incomes.
