RM745,260 Upgrade for Rifle Range Flats in Penang
The Penang government is investing RM745,260 to upgrade Rifle Range Flats, addressing safety and livability for its elderly residents. The project, funded by the Housing and Local Government Ministry, includes rewiring and enhanced fire safety measures, expected to complete by August 2026.

The Penang government's RM745,260 upgrade to Rifle Range Flats aims to improve safety and living conditions for its elderly residents. Ongoing works include rewiring common areas and installing energy-efficient lighting systems.
Additionally, repairs to the fire pump house system are planned, with an estimated cost of RM200,000, scheduled between June and December 2026. The flats, completed in 1969, house 3,663 units and face challenges such as faulty lifts and drainage issues.
Recent inspections reveal a need for improvements to meet safety standards, especially following a fire incident in October 2025. These upgrades are critical for ensuring the welfare of the community and enhancing emergency preparedness.
