Robotic Automation Boosts Cake Manufacturing Efficiency
A custom robotic automation system has been implemented in a major cake production facility, enhancing efficiency by automating the loading process of cakes. The solution involves advanced robotics and specialized gripper technology, addressing challenges in handling delicate bakery products.
A major cake production facility has adopted a robotic automation solution that significantly improves operational efficiency by automating the labor-intensive loading process. WMH engineered a bespoke system featuring two gantry-mounted Mitsubishi robots to load chocolate-coated Swiss-roll cakes onto packing boards.
Critical to this solution was the development of specialized robotic grippers, allowing for careful handling of delicate items. The project also integrates a vision-guided system for accurate cake orientation and includes card denesters and a ganache depositor to secure cakes on boards. This advancement could lead to reduced labor costs and increased production capacity in the bakery sector.
