Rubicon Carbon to Provide Microsoft with 2 Million Carbon Removal Credits from Ugandan Forestry Project

CARBON CAPTURE

Rubicon Carbon will supply Microsoft with two million carbon removal credits over nine years from Kijani Forestry's Smallholder Farmer Forestry Project in Northern Uganda. This agreement is part of a larger framework established in May 2025, allowing Microsoft to purchase a total of 18 million tons of carbon credits.

Kijani Forestry collaborates with over 50,000 smallholder farmers to create woodlots on degraded land and has planted approximately 30 million trees. The project is designed to generate carbon credits and sustainable revenue from timber and charcoal.

Under the agreement, Rubicon will provide long-term financing to facilitate the project's development and credit delivery. This initiative aims to enhance economic opportunities for local communities while addressing climate change.
