Rwanda and Singapore Launch Call for High-Quality Carbon Credit Projects Under Paris Agreement
Rwanda and Singapore have announced a call for proposals for high-quality carbon credit projects under their Implementation Agreement, aligned with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. This initiative invites project developers to submit applications for carbon mitigation activities that generate Article 6 compliant carbon credits, aiding Singapore's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).
The collaboration aims to attract climate finance for Rwanda, support low-emission development, and create economic opportunities while contributing to global climate goals. Projects can be technology-based or nature-based, focusing on measurable greenhouse gas emission reductions and sustainable development benefits.
The authorisation process involves three stages: design and implementation details, and adjustments for generated carbon credits. The initiative seeks to enhance local communities through job creation and improved energy security.
