Sarawak Enhances Water Resource Management and Carbon Storage Initiatives
Sarawak is advancing its water resource management by planning to export treated water and launching a premium bottled water brand, Orkid. This strategy aims to support the state's clean water goals while generating additional revenue and promoting sustainability.

Sarawak is targeting the export of treated water after achieving 100% clean water coverage by 2030. Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg announced plans to supply water to a neighboring country, highlighting the state's river resources and purification technology.
Additionally, the launch of Orkid, a premium bottled water brand for AirBorneo, marks a significant step in Sarawak Water's commercial growth strategy. The state is also advocating for a federal regulatory framework to support carbon storage initiatives, as companies from Japan and Singapore express interest in utilizing Sarawak's carbon capture reservoirs. The development of these water and carbon initiatives positions Sarawak to enhance its role in sustainable resource management.
