SAS Launches Quantum Lab to Democratize Hybrid Quantum Computing by 2026
SAS is developing a Quantum Lab toolkit expected by late 2026 on its Viya platform to make hybrid quantum computing accessible to data scientists and enterprise analysts. This initiative aims to reduce costs and uncertainty, positioning SAS to compete with major players like IBM and Google.

SAS has announced the launch of its Quantum Lab during the SAS Innovate 2026 conference in Grapevine, Texas, with a toolkit set to be available on the Viya platform by the end of 2026. This toolkit aims to lower barriers to hybrid quantum computing through advanced optimizations and machine learning on quantum hardware, potentially outperforming classical methods by up to 100 times.
A survey by SAS of over 500 companies indicates that in 2026, the primary barrier to adopting quantum AI is uncertainty regarding practical applications, followed by cost and a lack of qualified personnel. The technology is still maturing, but hybrid systems are operational, combining quantum and classical computing to enhance workflow efficiency.
