Schneider Electric Launches EcoStruxure Foxboro Software Defined Automation, First Open DCS
Schneider Electric has launched EcoStruxure Foxboro Software Defined Automation (SDA), the first open, software-defined DCS, designed for hybrid and process industry customers. This system offers improved agility, scalability, and cost efficiency while maintaining reliability, addressing industry demands for modernization.
The initiative responds to challenges like aging systems and rising costs as highlighted in a global research report with Omdia, which revealed that closed systems can cost mid-sized companies 7.5% of revenue annually. EcoStruxure Foxboro SDA allows for interoperability and rapid deployment, ensuring digital continuity and better integration with analytics. It supports a future-ready upgrade path with built-in cybersecurity and facilitates IT/OT convergence.
