Schwarz Digits Launches Major AI Cloud Infrastructure in Germany
Dieter Schwarz's Schwarz Digits is investing €11 billion in a new data center to enhance European digital independence. The initiative aims to position Germany as a competitive AI hub against major US tech firms.

Schwarz Digits, backed by Dieter Schwarz, is set to invest €11 billion in a data center located south of Berlin, marking its largest investment to date. The company, which previously managed IT infrastructure for 14,500 supermarkets globally, is now expanding its offerings to include cloud and security solutions for businesses and government entities, promoting European digital sovereignty.
The initiative aligns with the goal of reducing dependency on US and Chinese technology. Despite current revenue of €2.2 billion, the company faces significant competition, as Amazon's AWS generated $135 billion in revenue last year alone. The establishment of an AI hub near Heilbronn aims to create 5,000 jobs across 140 companies, enhancing Germany's position in the global AI landscape.
