SCX.ai Prepares ASX Listing as Demand for Sovereign AI Infrastructure Grows
SCX.ai is set to raise $40 million in an IPO to become Australia's first ASX-listed sovereign AI inference infrastructure firm. The shift toward open-weight AI models is driving demand for efficient local infrastructure, potentially transforming the AI landscape in Australia.

SCX.ai aims to raise $40 million through an IPO for its listing on the ASX under the code SCX, marking its position as Australia's first pure-play sovereign AI inference infrastructure company. The rise of open-weight AI models is expected to boost demand for local AI infrastructure, as organizations prefer to control and customize AI on their own systems rather than relying on foreign providers.
SCX.ai's platform utilizes existing data centers with specialized AI processors, allowing for efficient operations without the need for extensive new construction. This approach addresses rising costs associated with AI and the environmental impact of data centers, which are projected to consume between 4.4 billion to 5.9 billion liters of water annually by 2031.
The company anticipates that optimizing existing resources will alleviate the pressure on energy and water while meeting growing AI demands. As open-weight models gain traction, enterprises are realizing they can achieve cost-effective solutions without sacrificing performance.
