U.S. Senator Charles Schumer announced $800,000 in federal funding for Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) to establish a Precision Metals Training Center. This funding, part of the FY 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations Bill, will equip the center with state-of-the-art tools used in the precision metals industry.
MVCC's center, located in the new Applied Technology Center on its Utica campus, aims to enhance workforce training in fields like automation, mechatronics, and robotics. The center will help meet local employers' needs and boost economic development in the Mohawk Valley, where precision metals jobs are in high demand and pay significantly above the regional average. Construction of the Applied Technology Center is expected to be completed by December 2027.
