The Shannon Airport Group has begun a €15 million upgrade of its terminal building, part of a €40 million investment for 2026. The project aims to enhance passenger facilities and improve sustainability by replacing the 1970s terminal section with a modern façade that will support electric heat pump technology and new HVAC systems. Improvements will include upgraded immigration and baggage halls, new layouts, and the removal of an old corridor to reduce CO₂ emissions. Completion is expected by May 2027.

Shannon Airport Group has started a €15 million upgrade of the terminal building, marking the first phase of a €40 million investment plan for 2026. The project includes replacing the 1970s terminal section with a modern façade to enhance energy performance and facilitate the use of electric heat pump technology, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Upgrades will improve passenger experience with modernized immigration and baggage halls, new signage, and a dedicated entrance for European passengers. The removal of the old link corridor will save approximately 62 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
Galway-based OCC Construction is tasked with the project, expected to conclude in May 2027. Additional investments will enhance taxiways and develop two industrial units at Shannon Airport Business Park.
