Siemens Secures 30-Year Service Contract for 61 Battery-Powered Trains in North Westphalia
Siemens Mobility has been awarded a long-term service contract for 61 battery-electric Mireo Plus B trains, effective for up to 30 years. This initiative aims to enhance regional rail transport in North Westphalia, focusing on reliability and sustainability as the trains are set to enter service in December 2029.

Siemens Mobility will handle the complete maintenance of 61 Mireo Plus B battery-electric trains for the Westfalen-Lippe Local Transport Authority, ensuring near 100% fleet availability. This full-service contract is part of a broader strategy to develop efficient, sustainable rail operations in Network North Westphalia, with the trains expected to commence service in December 2029.
The Customer Services division of Siemens will implement preventive and predictive maintenance through digital analysis, which will optimize costs and reduce downtime. This project illustrates the potential of innovative financing and private capital in advancing sustainable transport solutions while signaling a commitment to decarbonizing rail transport in the region.
