Social Housing Rehabilitation Project in Viana do Castelo, Portugal
The rehabilitation of the Mata Velha social housing neighborhood will provide 51 transformed units for families in Viana do Castelo. This initiative is part of a municipal strategy supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).

The Mata Velha neighborhood in Viana do Castelo has undergone extensive rehabilitation to transform 51 housing units. The project, aligned with the municipal social housing strategy, includes improvements such as expanded buildings, accessible facilities, renovated kitchens, and upgraded electrical and plumbing systems.
Additionally, thermal comfort has been enhanced through new window frames, insulation, and heat pump installations. Families will return in stages; five families are set to move back soon, while six others will temporarily relocate to facilitate ongoing work. The initiative reflects a significant investment backed by EU funds, aiming to elevate living standards for residents.
