Somerset Receives £89.9M Government Funding for Flood Prevention Projects
The UK government has allocated £89.9 million for flood prevention measures in Somerset as part of the 2026/27 funding round. This funding will support 15 projects, including a £59 million investment in the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier, which aims to protect 11,300 homes and 1,500 businesses from tidal flooding. Floods Minister Emma Hardy emphasized the need for ongoing support and announced a review regarding the potential installation of permanent pumps to further mitigate flood risks.
