South Dakota Lawmakers Propose Allocation of $31 Million in One-Time State Funding
South Dakota lawmakers are considering how to allocate over $31 million in one-time funding, down from nearly 30 proposals to under a dozen. Governor Larry Rhoden's budget included $14.4 million, which increased by $16.8 million due to updated revenue.
Major proposals include $8 million for road repairs near Ellsworth Air Force Base, $3 million for a water infrastructure fund, and funding for organizations supporting victims of domestic violence. Bills require a two-thirds majority to pass.
Other initiatives include $5 million for rural infrastructure and $2 million for behavioral health facilities. The legislative session is ongoing with final amounts subject to change.
