South Korea Launches World's First Domestic AI-Powered Unmanned Factory and Explores Autonomous Driving in China
South Korea introduced the Kairos platform, the first fully domestic AI-powered unmanned factory, developed by KAIST. This initiative is part of the K-Moonshot Project, aimed at advancing Physical AI technology. Concurrently, South Korean delegations visited China to study autonomous driving technology and explore collaboration opportunities, highlighting the need for more extensive real-world data in self-driving tech. The country is investing in AI and robotics while seeking to enhance competitiveness against China and the US.

South Korea unveiled the Kairos platform, the world's first fully domestic AI-powered unmanned factory, integrating robots and software developed using local technologies. The initiative, part of the K-Moonshot Project, aims to enhance capabilities in Physical AI.
Simultaneously, South Korea dispatched delegations to Beijing and Shanghai to study autonomous driving technology and explore partnerships. The government is investing KRW45.9 billion (USD30.6 million) in AI, robotics, and next-generation vehicles, amid competition with China in technological advancements and market development.
