South32 Hillside Aluminium Completes R5.1 Million Water Project in uMfolozi
The R5.1-million water infrastructure project in Mbongampisi enhances access to clean water for over 520 residents, reducing reliance on water tankers. This initiative highlights the collaboration between South32 Hillside Aluminium and local municipalities to address critical water supply issues.

South32 Hillside Aluminium, in conjunction with uMfolozi Local Municipality and King Cetshwayo District Municipality, has completed a R5.1-million water infrastructure project for the Mbongampisi community. Key components of the project include 21 communal standpipes, 4,300 meters of pipeline, a 30kVA diesel generator, a water storage tank, and a pump house.
This development improves water access for approximately 65 households, impacting more than 520 residents who previously relied on intermittent water supply from tankers. The initiative aims to enhance public health and living conditions, representing a significant step towards sustainable water solutions in the area.
