Southern Water Invests £25 Million in Chichester Wastewater Treatment Upgrade

Southern Water is investing £25 million in the Chichester Wastewater Treatment Works to increase treatment capacity by 57% and reduce storm overflow risks into Chichester Harbour. The project commenced this month, with completion expected by spring 2029, involving new tanks and pipework, and managed by infrastructure partner Galliford Try.

This investment aligns with Southern Water's environmental goals, including the Three Harbours Partnership, which focuses on water quality and biodiversity across Chichester, Langstone, and Pagham harbours. Southern Water serves 4.8 million wastewater customers and has a large-scale business plan to enhance environmental performance and infrastructure resilience.
