Spain Allocates €19 Million for Semiconductor and Quantum Chip Research
Spain's government has approved a €19 million investment to enhance semiconductor capabilities in Europe through research and innovation. Key funding includes €6.5 million for quantum chip pilot projects aimed at addressing manufacturing challenges and €12.3 million for 36 R&D projects in critical technology areas.

The Spanish government has allocated €19 million to support semiconductor industry initiatives under the European Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU). This includes €6.5 million for five quantum pilot projects focused on developing quantum chips, addressing complex manufacturing issues.
The funding will be accessible to universities, large companies, startups, and SMEs. Additionally, more than €12.3 million will support 36 private R&D projects in key areas such as cybersecurity and sustainable manufacturing.
These projects will receive matching funds from Chips JU and private entities, totaling around €45.4 million. The investment complements earlier initiatives, including over €66.5 million for integrated photonics.
