Specialist Plant Associates Invests in Tunnelling Equipment for UK Carbon Capture Project with HSBC Funding
Specialist Plant Associates has acquired new tunnelling equipment for carbon capture infrastructure projects, funded by HSBC UK. This equipment will support the Liverpool Bay Carbon Capture and Storage scheme, part of the HyNet pipeline initiative, which transports captured CO2 from the North West and North Wales for seabed storage.

Specialist Plant Associates received an eight-figure funding package from HSBC UK to invest in tunnelling equipment for infrastructure projects, including a carbon capture scheme. The Northamptonshire-based firm, part of the Joseph Gallagher Group, will utilize this technology for closed-face tunnelling, minimizing surface disruption and emissions. The equipment will be deployed in the Liverpool Bay Carbon Capture and Storage project, led by Eni, to support the HyNet pipeline, which will transport captured carbon dioxide from industrial sites in the North West and North Wales for storage beneath the seabed.
