Spirit Energy Proposes Restructuring, 100 Jobs at Risk in Aberdeen
Spirit Energy, a gas production firm in Aberdeen, is proposing a major restructure that may lead to around 100 job losses. The company plans to create two separate entities, impacting its current workforce of 150 employees.

Spirit Energy is undergoing a restructuring process that threatens approximately 100 jobs at its Aberdeen office on Justice Mill Lane. The company intends to split into two independent organizations, creating a new development company focused on the Morecambe carbon storage project, employing around 50 staff at a smaller office.
The second entity will be based in Barrow-in-Furness, managing fields in the East Irish Sea. Redundancies and office closure are anticipated by the end of the year, following an ongoing staff consultation. This restructuring could significantly reduce Aberdeen's energy sector workforce and impact local employment.
