STADLER Completes Reconstruction of Sortierkontor Nord Packaging Plant in Bremen, Germany

STADLER Anlagenbau GmbH has completed the reconstruction of the Sortierkontor Nord (SKN) lightweight packaging facility in Bremen, Germany, following two fire incidents in 2022. The facility, a joint venture between Nehlsen AG and PreZero Recycling Deutschland GmbH, processes around 120,000 tons of material annually.
The redesign focused on enhancing safety and automation, with a new layout that isolates critical processes to improve fire protection. The reconstruction, which took nearly three years, integrates advanced sorting technology and prepares for future battery extraction. The plant is set to be commissioned in early 2025.
