Stivala Hotel Foundation Stabilization Efforts Underway Amid Water Issues
The Building and Construction Authority is stabilizing foundations at the Stivala hotel site in Sliema after water discharge incidents. The site has faced ongoing issues with flooding and construction compliance, prompting intervention from multiple authorities.

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) is currently stabilizing the foundations of the Stivala hotel development in Sliema, alongside neighboring properties, following reports of water-logged foundations. A stop work order was issued by the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) after initial investigations revealed a malfunctioning pump led to seawater filling the site.
The BCA is imposing stricter conditions, including the use of specialized equipment, to ensure safety and compliance. Ongoing resident complaints about flooding and excessive noise have heightened scrutiny of the construction practices, which have been criticized for occurring outside permitted hours.
