Surinder Bhagat, an Indian Foreign Service officer, has been appointed as the High Commissioner of India to Ghana. The diplomatic relationship between India and Ghana originated in 1957, with both countries actively participating in the Non-Aligned Movement.
India has provided concessional credit and grants to support Ghana's infrastructure and capacity-building projects, including initiatives like the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program. Cultural exchanges and educational scholarships further strengthen ties, while high-level visits have boosted cooperation in defense, cybersecurity, and renewable energy.
